You’re Not Alone: Empowering Moms on the Toughest Days

A message of solidarity and strength for every mom facing the challenges of motherhood

I used to get upset when my son would have major meltdowns while we were out in public.

I would find the situation embarrassing and feel like it made me a bad mom.

Now, with a one-year-old and soon to be three year old, I no longer care what other people think.

I understand that my children will have meltdowns and tantrums. Even sometimes together!

But I learned a heavy lesson through this process about humility.

When you are a therapist, there’s this belief that you have it more together or that you won’t have the same pitfalls.

It’s just not true.

Maybe I bought into that, especially being told for so long that I would be a good mom.

I now know that I may have a few more tools than some new moms, but that nothing prepares you for this type of job.

it doesn’t matter how many children you have worked with or if you helped raise your siblings.

All of that helps, but it doesn’t prepare you for the hormonal changes your body will go through or this deep-seated desire to protect your children.

So where was my lesson in humility?

As much as it pains me to say it, I would judge moms that I would see out in public.

I know we have all been there…

But, I needed this lesson. It’s given me a whole new respect and appreciation for all moms.

I no longer judge the mom with a crying toddler or a child running off.

I no longer judge the mom who has lost her cool with her child.

I now wish there was some type of signal, like in Hunger Games.

Something to signify that you aren’t alone - We are with you in the Motherhood journey!

If you have any ideas on what would be a cool idea, definitely reply with what you think would work.

When you become a mom, you fully understand all that comes with regardless of the number of children.

You know that it comes with…

  • sleep deprivation

  • the weight of carrying the family

  • expecting to have all the answers when you are just as lost

  • sacrificing self-care

  • losing yourself

  • trying to find some resemblance of yourself

and so much more.

Being a mom is one of the hardest jobs on earth and yet there won’t be a lot of thank yous or understanding of the sacrifices made.

So if you haven’t heard it lately, “You are doing the best you can. You will make mistakes but you’re a force that will never be forgotten in your children’s lives.”

Know that I’m rooting for you.

Until the next time,

Jessica

P.S. I will be doing an unboxing next week of the sample diaper bags!! I’m super excited about this and I can’t wait to share it with you!

Whether you are new or have been watching my journey, I appreciate your support.
