When Is Enough, Enough?
Slowing Down to Enjoy the Journey of Motherhood and Life

“Focus is about saying no. You can do anything - but not everything.”
This statement resonates with me deeply.
As I juggle two toddlers, a mental health practice, starting an e-commerce brand, creating a podcast, and building a course business, I’ve realized something important: at some point, something has to give.
One question I’ve been asking myself this year is, “When is enough, enough?”
I thought stepping back from building Harpson Co. would bring relief, but it did the opposite.
Motherhood has changed me in ways I never expected.
I’m more driven than ever, but I also constantly feel like I can’t balance it all.
So, I’ve decided to SLOW DOWN.
Because all of this—the goals, the dreams, the hard work—means nothing if I can’t enjoy the journey.
I realized I was trying to build too fast, and it was draining the joy out of the process.
It’s the same with motherhood.
We’re often rushing to do it all: clean, cook, meet their needs, do laundry, organize things, and somehow try to make time for ourselves.
And the list doesn’t stop there.
There’s the constant mental weight of wondering if we’re giving them enough time, enough opportunities, and questioning if we’re doing it “right.” It’s a load that can feel impossible to carry at times.
I don’t want to race toward a finish line that doesn’t exist.
I want to choose to enjoy the journey.
When my son asks me to carry him and I’m tired, I want to slow down and consider how he feels in that moment.
When I dread reading the same book for the hundredth time, I want to remind myself how I’ll feel when they no longer want to snuggle close to Mom for storytime.
I want to pause and ask myself if my feelings are just clouded by the endless to-dos.
But it’s not just about motherhood—I want to enjoy the journey in all areas of my life.
I want to embrace the privilege of helping teens and young adults find their way.
Even when the admin work feels overwhelming.
I want to find joy in the process of revising my first product, a diaper bag, knowing it’s okay if it takes longer than expected.
It’s about creating something that truly meets people’s needs.
I want to feel grateful for the blessing of channeling my passions through courses and podcasting.
It’s a gift to share what I love and connect with others.
The journey itself is the reward.
And I’m choosing to find joy in every step.
If this resonates with you, I’d love to hear your thoughts. Send me a message—I’m rooting for you in every way possible.
Until next time (and it won’t be as long as last time),
Jessica
