Silencing the Doubts: Embracing Fear and Chasing Dreams
How I’m Pushing Through Anxiety to Build a Better Future
At some point in life, we are all hit with an overwhelming amount of fear and anxiety.
That’s when the excuses speak so loudly that it drowns out the voice that says you can do it or you can get through it.
There are several times in my life where this has happened:
In childhood, it was the opportunity to attend a gifted school. I was too afraid of leaving my twin brother.
In my teenage years, it was not speaking up more for my friend who was being abused by our basketball coach.
In college, it was wanting to fit in at the cost of not challenging racist behavior among some of the players.
Other times were just life changes that sent a shock through me:.
Getting Married
Pregnancy and giving birth
Tantrums and Meltdowns that seem to never end
But now, at this stage and in this moment, it’s being afraid of chasing this big dream.
I am so afraid of failing and yet, I’m failing because I haven’t put forth the effort.
Have you ever had that happen to you?
I believe we all have in some ways. I am going to challenge myself to stay true to my goals.
I’m going to block out the voice that tells me people won’t resonate with what I have to say.
I’m going to block out the voice that says I should be focusing more on my children and not building a new business.
I’m going to block out the voice that says no one will buy my diaper bag.
I’m going to push through all the fear and anxiety with the knowledge that on the other side is…
moms feeling empowered
personal growth
freedom to give my children the lifestyle I want
building something that inspires hope and fortitude
So if you are in a similar situation or have been there, know you can chase after any dream. It’s never too late to trust yourself and know you are doing your best.
So until next time,
Jessica
